Live Outside the Library 2024

April 14:  Steven Brown. Who is this guy? I heard he plays guitar, sings opera, the blues, folk, and dabbles in other arcane musical mysteries. The only event where donations are collected (this year they will benefit RSU 71's music program).

April 25:  Paddy Mills is an award winning folksinger-songwriter whose songs are as salty as the Maine coast he calls home. Paddy has been spinning yarns and singing his tunes throughout New England and beyond for more than twenty five years.

May 11:  Kate McCann is a folk singer and banjo player based in Midcoast Maine. Playing both original and traditional music, Kate draws from her time spent immersed in old-time, Irish, and maritime folk music traditions.

May 16:  Elsie Gawler & Ethan Stokes Tischler deliver original and traditional songs and tunes that come straight from the heart. These New England based songsters, on fiddle, guitar, vocals, cello, and banjo, bring together their unique musical backgrounds to create a rich original sound that is alive with their love for the music they make together.

May 30:  Rupert Wates - a Searsmont favorite! - returns with his impeccable guitar playing and vocals. His music is an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. For a change of speed, his last album (his 12th) features all classical guitar works.

June 8:  Fendrick & Peck (Madeline Fendrick and Brian Peck) are a hard-adventuring musical duo. Their work and play with song and story centers on the rebellious messages growing in opposition to our dominate cultural narrative: that perhaps the answers we seek actually are in peace, in wildness, accepting our authentic selves, and love of the finest kind.

June 29:  The State Street Traditional Jazz Band pays homage and brings to life a music birthed over 100 years ago - the enchanting sounds that were then heard in New Orleans and throughout the Louisiana Delta region.  This is not "Dixieland" nor is it "Straw Hat" music - this is the REAL DEAL, folks. It doesn't get any better than this!

July 13:  The Pinwheel Brothers return to grace our annual Book & Bake Sale with their high energy roots Americana and original folk songs.

July 27:  Belast Flying Shoes Community Dance! Join the fun and get some exercise learning to dance traditional country dances. No experience necessary! Or bring an instrument and play with the All-Comers Band! A great way to spend time with friends, neighbors and strangers!

August 3:  The Hot Suppers return to Searsmont for a concert of original rock and folk-rock tunes. Tight harmonies, skillful playing, great sound, boundless cool and exuberant energy are a hallmark of this local favorite.

August 10:  Mondaynite Jazz Orchestra bring their big band Mojo back! Full of swingin' tunes, big brass sound, and commitment to community music playing in the Midcoast.

October 5:  Renaissance Men return from Boston with a quintet of acapella music for male voices - from the early music of the Baroque and Renaissance to popular tunes of the 20th century and arrangements of fun folk song (their rendition of Drunkin' Sailor is not to be missed!) these professional voices will fill the village church with music.
