Cemetery Committee

The Cemetery Committee is  charged with overseeing the  cemeteries and the work of the Sexton.  This includes setting prices for lots, negotiating contracts and overseeing the care, maintenance, and restoration of the cemeteries, and making recommendations for obtaining additional land as needed.

Cemetery Committee members consists of five voting members who are elected at the annual town meeting to serve staggered three-year terms and must be registered voters of Searsmont

Sexton

The Sexton is responsible for the sale of cemetery lots, recording and maintaining records of interments, inspection of cemeteries and reporting any problems to the cemetery board, supervision of the work of maintenance contractors.
